A certified "Classic Kashmir" 3ct "Gem".
The stone is moderately to lightly included (LI2-MI1)
with light to moderate velvet texture. The saturation
is moderate to strong with a 70% tone. This combination
of glowing velvet texture and sharp crystal with high
brilliance is a wonderful example of the finest sapphire
in the world.
The stone is ideal in proportion and depth creating
a 3ct+ appearance. The cutting is an original antique
cushion from the early 1900's with long culet. The stone
was taken from a 1920's platinum Art Deco platinum ring.
Viewed with microscope at 50x magnification: The
internal characteristics easily seperated this stone from
other localities. There is a very little eye visible silk
as seen in the photograph above (top left corner). Otherwise,
the stone is 'crystal' and would be considered in the
top 10% of the world's finest gems. Gems of this high
caliber have not decreased in value since the original
mines discovery in the 1880's.
