An extremely fine, natural color, 2 ct Kashmir sapphire.
The tone is 75-80% with a brilliance of 80-100%.
The gemstone is lightly included with no eye visible inclusions.
The stone shows faint zoning. The texture is faint giving
a velvet 'cornflower' color or open blue color. The stone
was refaceted from it's original old cutting so it has
no window and displays an excellent 2ct face with a 76%
depth. This is an extremely fine no heat 'crystal' from
Kashmir, India.
Viewed with microscope at 50x magnification: The
gemstones internal inclusions show classic zoning with
turbidity. The stone has a very small veil in the flag
pattern typical for old Kashmirs which are documented
in Dr. Gubelins' 'Photo Atlas of Inclusions' book. You
may see the flag veil in this 2ct stone when you click
the thumbnail below (photomicrograph 50x). The stone is
easily identified as Kashmir and natural color.
