A superb "Classic" gem Kashmir sapphire.
This classic Kashmir sapphire crystal is 80-85%
tone with very good brilliance and very strong saturation.
The stone is moderate in texture creating an intense glowing
effect. The stone is a perfect 75% depth showing
an excellent face. The stone shows no color zoning.
The stone is flawless in clarity. The Gubelin
and AGL certificates state "Classic Kashmir"
origin and natural color.
Viewed and photographed with our microscope at
50x magnification: The identifying internal inclusions
show several types of microscopic silk to include the
extremely rare "snowflakes". The snowflake
silk in this stone can be seen by clicking the photo above.
This variety of "snowflake" silk is exclusive
to the Kashmir origin sapphire. I learned to identify
Kashmir sapphire by purchasing rough, polishing windows
and studying the inclusions. I also worked for Switzerlands
GRS laboratory owned and operated by the former
Gubelin director Dr. A. Peretti.
