King
Solomon, one of the most rich, wise and powerful men to ever
walk this earth wrote that, if a human's life measure should
include his goals and ambitions as ends in themselves apart
from God, his life is futile and meaningless. In other
words wealth, wisdom, and works are all in vain without acknowledging
the Creator who has made these things possible. As the
writer of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon goes on to suggest, however,
that we live our lives looking through the lens of reality.
We should
therefore accept God's gifts and humbly enjoy them. We should
not misinterpret this to say, "Eat, drink, and be merry
for tomorrow we die!" rather entrust God with the things
we have rather than complain about the things we do not have.
