This is one of the few nice Kashmir Pakistan (Batakundi) mineral specimen I've seen in 25 years dealing stones .  The rough is normally an irregular shape and covered in a graphitized matrix.  We bought a 30kg lot about 10 yrs ago which faceted a handful of stones and just a few mineral specimen.

This 29ct bipyramid crystal is doubly terminated, translucent with clean faces and the classic purple-pink red color found at the Batakundi mines in Pakistan.

The classic blue sapphire located on the other side in India, Kashmir.  The purple pink, fuschia color, and or multicolor blue pink sapphire are from the Pakistan side of Kashmir in the villages known as Basel or Batakundi along the Line of Control (LOC), a few hundred kilometers away.

They are distinctly different color of pink purple and blue when compared to sapphire from Kashmir, Soomjam on the Indian side.
