Collection: Pietersite

Here’s a rare stone that may not be known to most gemstone collectors. It’s an engaging aggregate comprised of tiger’s eye, hawk eye and something mysteriously more, creating mystical color patterns; "Each One of a Kind"  This fascinating stone was named in 1962 by Sid Pieters to honor his father. Pietersite is highly collected for its 'chaotic' yet 'organized' play of color (chatoyancy)'.  Some have called it Africa's Opal, with the only mine along the Skeleton Coast in South Africa closed and not productive for many years.

This private limited collection is a farewell to my work with Pietersite over 20 years.
